General Race Rules

  1. NO CHIP – NO RESULTS (21.1KM & 10KM)
  2. The race is held under the rules and auspices of ASA and CGA.
  3. Athletes indemnify national, regional, provincial bodies, sponsors and organisers of the race against any or all actions whatsoever nature, whatever the same may arise out of their participation in the race.
  4. All athletes participate at their own risk & acknowledge by entering the event that they are medically fit to participate.
  5. All athletes must wear the event number provided on the front of their vest, on top of their provincial licence number not concealing the “ASA sponsor” logo on the top.
  6. Licensed athletes must: – belong to a club affiliated to ASA
    • wear their club colours
    • wear 2018 license number on the front and back of their vest
  7. Unlicensed athletes must buy a temporary license on Race Day at an additional cost of R25 for the 21.1km and R20 for the 10km.
  8. Unlicensed runners must wear plain gear with the temporary license on the back of their vests.
  9. Numerical age category identity tags must be worn on the back and front of athletes competing for category prizes. Proof of age must be produced on the day if requested.
  10. Minimum age for participants in the event:
    • 21.1km – 16 years
    • 10km – 15 years
    • 5km Fun Run/Walk – 9 years
  11. International athletes must provide a clearance letter, from their country of origin, to the organisers & chief referee prior to the start of the event. Prizes will be withheld if this rule is not adhered to.
  12. No seconding or bicycles are allowed along the route.
  13. There will be ample refreshment points.
  14. Unfortunately no blades, cyclist or mechanical operated devices will be allowed in the race.
  15. Athletes may not participate with animals / pets.
  16. All traffic officers and officials’ instructions must be obeyed.
  17. No refunds.
  18. The race organizer retains the right to refuse entry and eject persons under the influence of drugs or alcohol, who are disorderly, or engage in inappropriate behaviour, vandalism or evade paying for admission.
  19. No music players and/or listening devices are allowed during the race.
  20. Objections must be lodged within 30 minutes (before or after prize-giving) in writing to the chief referee accompanied by R300.00 which is refundable if the appeal is upheld.
  21. Athletes are only eligible for the race they have entered.
  22. Athletes may not run with another athlete’s race number unless by prior arrangement with the race organiser.
  23. Athletes who participate without buying a race entry will be disqualified, will not be entitled to any benefits associated with the race & will be liable for a double entry fee charge. Habitual offenders will be called to a CGA disciplinary.
  24. Littering is not allowed and athletes are to dispose of any litter in appropriate bins. Athletes can be disqualified if they litter.
